White vs Black
This is considered a theme because Pauline and Pecola have troubles with the whites. First Pauline use to work for a woman who didnt like Paulines husband so she asked her could she leave him. Pauline said no so the woman decided not to pay her and left. And then another situation was with Pecola the little white kids mother when she was falsely acused and the mother called Pecola out of her name.
The Outer Apperance Does Not Matter !
This realates to Pecola thinking that if she had blue eyes the world see her as beautiful, and not tease her. This relates to not judge a book by is cover. she believes that maybe if she was Shirley Temple she wouold have a better life.
